Türkiye's export sector delivered a record performance in 2025, reaching $273.4 billion, a 4.5% year-over-year increase, despite continued global trade pressures including protectionism, geopolitical tensions, and ongoing supply-chain disruptions. The result underscores Türkiye's growing role in global trade, supported by its strategic position linking Europe, the Middle East, and Asia.

Strong Performance Across Sectors

Speaking in Istanbul, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan highlighted that total exports, including services, reached $396.5 billion, driven primarily by manufactured goods such as automotive products, machinery, electrical equipment, iron and steel, chemicals, textiles, and apparel. Food and agricultural exports also recorded strong growth, supported by Türkiye's solid production base and well-developed logistics infrastructure enabling efficient access to international markets.

Despite challenges arising from U.S.–China trade frictions, the Russia–Ukraine conflict, and rising tariff barriers, Türkiye's exporters maintained competitiveness through flexible manufacturing, diversified markets, and cost efficiency. Europe remained the country's largest export destination, while demand from the Middle East, North Africa, and Central Asia helped offset slower growth in other regions.

Manufacturing Momentum Improves

Manufacturing indicators toward the end of the year signaled improving momentum. According to a joint Istanbul Chamber of Industry and S&P Global survey, the manufacturing PMI rose to 48.9 in December, its highest level in twelve months. While still below expansion territory, the figure reflects a slowing contraction, with easing declines in output, new orders, and employment, alongside stabilizing purchasing activity.

Looking Ahead to 2026

Looking ahead to 2026, Türkiye plans to intensify trade diplomacy, expand Free Trade Agreement negotiations, and advance reforms in green energy, digitalization, and export-oriented manufacturing. These measures aim to reinforce the country's position as a competitive production and logistics hub within increasingly resilient and multi-polar global trade networks.
